How to Reset Canon MP287 Printer

A printer that has an error can usually be found out by the appearance of a message that is displayed on your monitor screen. Besides that, we can also find an indication of an error on a printer with a blinking light and cannot print any documents.

Most error messages and problems with the printer not being able to print documents can be solved in a very easy and cheap way, by resetting the printer using simple software.

So before taking your printer to a service, it's a good idea to try resetting your printer first, because most problems that arise can be resolved by simply resetting.

To do this, please look carefully at step by step how to reset the following Canon MP287 printer.

Enter Canon MP287 Printer Service Mode

Before doing the reset process using software, we first have to condition the printer to be ready to reset, by entering the service mode manually by pressing a certain button on the printer.

  • Make sure the printer is turned off and the power cable is not disconnected and still connected to the PC
  • Press and hold the Stop / Reset button then press and hold the power button
  • With the power button still pressed, release the Stop / Reset button then press it again 6 times

  • Enter Service mode MP287
  • Next, please release the two buttons
  • The computer will automatically detect the new device

If your computer that is still connected to the printer has detected a new device or device, then you have succeeded in making the printer enter service mode and then just reset it using software.

Reset Printer with resetter software

After successfully entering service mode, it's time to reset the printer using the resetter software as follows.

  • Put 2 papers on the printer for test printing later
  • Please download the resetter software on THIS LINK
  • After downloading, please extract it
  • Run the Service Tool v3400 on your PC by clicking 2 times
  • Make the settings as shown below

            1. On the Clear Ink Counter absorber menu select "MAIN" then click the Set button on the right
            2. In the Ink absorber counter also select "PLAY" and click Set
            3. Then click EEPROM at the top of the menu
  • Usually the printer will print a test print
  • Done

If you have done according to the steps we have described above correctly, usually the error or problem that arises will disappear and the printer can function normally to print, scan and copy documents.

If you experience failure in the reset process, try to repeat it by entering service mode again then continue with the reset using the service tool v3400, hopefully this time it can work.

However, if you have done the reset correctly and it turns out that the problem has not been resolved, it is possible that your printer malfunction occurs because there is a hardware problem so that further examination must be carried out by an expert.

My advice is to take your printer to the service center for further handling if it turns out that the error still appears after the printer has been reset properly.
